This concept actually makes sense.  When the ads have borders, they seem to take a lot of space and increases ad blindness as the ads become more obvious.  I’m changing the ad border colors to match the background making them blend into the content.

    25 April 2008 - 1:11Above the Fold Concept

I like this concept because if done right, users are actually drawn to click on the links.  Just like me… but I don’t click my own ads otherwise Google would be on my back.  The first site where I applied this very thoroughly is on http://www.boholbiz.com. If you check that site now, you will see that above the fold, the link units and the ad units are very tempting.  A few times I had to hold myself back. :)

Let’s see what happens in a few days.

Make link colors of the google ads the same as the website links. Most effective color for links is blue.

    21 April 2008 - 22:30Wise Ad Placement

Using Google’s “heat” map, I reorganized some ads on www.dyrdam.com especially on the home page where there are several greeting requests posted by the viewers of the website. The 200×200 ad unit is now placed on the left side of the center area where the “heat” is higher.

    21 April 2008 - 7:43Welcome to My World

My name is Jimmy Raya and I am a part time search engine optimization and Adsense consultant. My clients include non-profit organizations, real estate developers, ISPs and many more. I got permission to record my results in this blog for the websites that are featured here. In most of the numbers I will report, I use relative values.

I used Joel Comm’s book called Adsense Secrets 4.0 which you may purchase from here. I am not affiliated with Joel Comm. I just use his e-book as a reference in this blog in the absense of a better guide that suited me. I started this blog to share my experience with Joel’s book and see if the recommendations work.

Why are there no Adsense ads on this website? I just thought it might be interesting to have no ads on this website. I might change my mind later but as of now, there will be no ads on this site.

I hope you will enjoy and learn from this blog.
